Loved, rejected, disappeared. The Palace of the Republic once stood where the Humboldt Forum stands today.
Many people still remember it today. The seat of the People's Chamber, a centre for culture in the GDR, the first freely elected People's Chamber was constituted here in 1990. It decides to join the Federal Republic of Germany.
For the Humboldt Forum, the palace as a symbolic place is an occasion to ask questions about power and participation. The exhibition and programme present the history of the site.
The special exhibition will be open from 16 May 2024.
