If you want to discover just how diverse Berlin really is, come to Heimathafen Neukölln. In our beautiful ballroom you can experience theatre with Berlin’s famously dry humour, as well as shows, poetry slams, readings and concerts given by performers from all over the world, and from the local independent arts community. On our studio stage we tell stories from the neighbourhood that will entertain and inspire you, stir up emotions and make you think outside the box.
Heimathafen Neukölln is a multi-disciplinary cultural venue for entertainment and critical debate. In-house productions and guest performances find a cultural home here under the four pillars of entertainment, music, discussion and theatre. Anyone who sets off to Neukölln to visit us will quickly notice that the streets are louder and bustling with life. Nights in Neukölln hold a lot in store: they promise adventure, revelry and community.
Before Rixdorf became Neukölln, the town at the gates of Berlin was regarded as the entertainment district of the common people. At Heimathafen Neukölln, a piece of Rixdorf’s characteristic attitude to life lives on at this historic site.
We consider Neukölln to be a space of investigation, a setting and a stage, which we engage with in a wide variety of artistic disciplines. Away from the big theatres of the inner city, Heimathafen reflects its surrounding reality – and responds to the constantly changing variety of fashions, styles, genres, environments and cultures. We fulfil our claim as a cultural space for all through our diversity of performance genres and by remaining in touch with our audiences. Embedded in a cultural hub on Karl-Marx-Straße, surrounded by an opera house, a cinema and galleries, residents and visitors will find a piece of local culture where many things become possible and artistic expression can discover a new home.
Café Rix, located in the same building, also puts on events. These are usually free of charge.
