Gedenkstätte Lindenstraße

The Lindenstraße Memorial is one of the central places of remembrance and education in Brandenburg. Located in the middle of Potsdam's city centre, the Lindenstraße Memorial stands for the history of political persecution and violence in the different dictatorships of the 20th century in Germany - but also for the victory of democracy in the Peaceful Revolution of 1989/90.
In the former court and prison complex, a multimedia permanent exhibition leads visitors through the different periods of the almost 300-year-old building complex. The focus is on the people who were imprisoned and sentenced for political reasons during the Nazi dictatorship, the Soviet occupation period and the SED dictatorship - as well as the people who helped to overcome the SED dictatorship in 1989/90.
As an open place of learning about history, the memorial site invites visitors: individually or as part of guided tours, eyewitness talks, project days. Special exhibitions and events are also held regularly.
