Berlin Highlight Tour
The best possible start for a classic day in Berlin – the impressive view of the Berlin TV Tower. Afterwards, the interactive GDR Museum is just a short walk away – experience an authentically furnished East German apartment or take a simulated drive in an original Trabi car.
In the DeJa Vu Museum just around the corner, venture into the world of optical illusions and discover how it feels to be at the heart of outer space. Or alternatively take the U5 tube (U-Bahn) from Alexanderplatz. In just three stops and a few minutes’ walk, you’ll reach the Computer Games Museum with many interactive exhibits tracing the history of gaming from the first consoles to modern virtual worlds.
The Karl-Liebknecht-Brücke bridge soon takes you to the Museum Island. Immerse yourself in the world of the oldest cultures of the world, exciting architecture and fascinating masterpieces. In the warm months, take the chance for a refreshing break directly opposite in the Monbijoupark.
The new Humboldt Forum is opposite. If you follow the Unter den Linden boulevard, you pass other sights including the State Opera House, the German Historical Museum and Humboldt University before you reach the famous Madame Tussauds wax museum. Here, you can immortalise yourself in a selfie with your choice of incredibly lifelike celebrity wax figures–and become part of famous film scenes yourself!
The Unter den Linden boulevard leads to Berlin’s landmark sight – the Brandenburg Gate. Just a few steps on you’ll find the Reichstag Parliament building, with its impressive dome open to the public (registration required: www.bundestag.de/besuche).
If you carry on to the Central Station (Hauptbahnhof), you can take the city railway S-Bahn for a 30-minute ride to a top sporting sight – Berlin’s Olympic Stadium Tour this former UEFA five-star stadium at your own pace or with the multimedia guide from the visitor’s centre.
